VOICE-OVER

commercials – narration – story-telling – jingles – animation

Over the past 25 years, I have been a voice artist. The craft of creating a great voice-over is remarkably gratifying. My experience as a singer and musician helps me bring the musicality of a script off the page. My commercial/narration voice has been described as low, velvety and rich – sounding authoritative, kind, poetic or sexy, depending on the creative concept. For voice characters and animation, my range is as wide as it is deep, squeaky, growly, chubby or skinny or, well, you get the idea.

My voice at your service

Aveeno & Neutrogena

For over 10 years now, I’ve been the voice of Aveeno and Neutrogena. Wherever I was in the world, we would link up studios, from Buenos Aires to LA, to Mexico, to Toronto or to Montréal! Grateful!

Lucilles

One of my drama teachers once said, “A great actor can read the phone book and it would be interesting.” When we created the campaign for Lucille’s Restaurants in Montreal, I decided to sing the menu.

The second spot is also for Lucille’s, and has everything a good radio commercial should have: hype, buzz and high-infidelity.

Manteca

I sing in the world jazz band Manteca. I guess they like my voice, cuz when they were promoting a big concert, they asked me to voice their commercial! I made them give me extra snacks in my dressing room.

Beau Dommage Short Film

I did the narration for the short documentary on Beau Dommage for their induction into the Canadian Songwriters Hall of Fame. The writer brought me a very challenging script because it was primarily in English, but full of French slang and expressions. A kind of Franglais clin d’œil. Beau Dommage loved it and said so from the stage as they accepted their award.

Canadian Songwriters Hall of Fame gala

I was asked to write and voice the bilingual pre-show announcements for the Canadian Songwriters Hall of Fame gala at Toronto’s Massey Hall. You know the drill, no flash photography during the show, if the cabin pressure changes . . . blah, blah, blah. The CSHF was inducting some exceptional artists: Bruce Cockburn, Neil Young, Stéphane Venne and Beau Dommage, and when I finished writing the pre-show announcements, I couldn’t stop, I went from wannabe poet to wannabe stage manager. The producers kept it all—I was thrilled!

As a sample of my work, here’s a corporate narration.
